Bearded dragons are omnivores and can eat a variety of things. Their diet consist of insects veggies and non citrus fruits. For an adult bearded dragon 15% of their diet i feed them fruits such as mango, peaches and berries. 30% of their diet should be dark leafy greens such as kale, mustard greens and parsley. 25% veggies such as carrots, bell peppers and green pees and 30% animal protein mainly bugs like crickets, roaches and horn worms. Keep in mind this is for adult dragon. They have a wide variety of things that you can feed them but they are not like dogs where you can give them table scrapes. You can also feed your dragons prepared food from a pet store but I personally don´t because none of the dragons I have when even touch it. So I took it out of their diet completely. I also dust their bugs with calcium dust with vitamin D and a mix of a few other vitamins to make sure they are getting all their essential vitamins in their diet.

I´m on the brink of finishing a new daily schedule for the dogs. At the moment now I put them in the bathroom when I'm gone with a few treats. I'm changing that because of my dog Parker, when I first got him he had anxiety issues and he still does a little bit and the minute I leave the house he pees. I plan to get them all their own cages and put them in that because it will help all of them due to the fact that dogs don't like being left alone in big spaces. They feel the need to protect it all and it gives them a little anxiety. I´m also doing to give them a new bedtime routine. Normally they go outside at 9 and eat right after and then at 11 they go back out and then it´s bedtime. I want to add teeth brushing time to that as well and a little walk. I'm debating on if I want to start having them sleep in their cages one I get them. One of the YouTuber I watch got me thinking about it if you want to check her out her name on YouTube is Schnauzer Mom. I´m also planning on taking the dogs to the groomer to get a haircut but it's kind of bad timing with winter approaching soon. Zery and Junior keep getting knots in their hair. Zery gets little knots because she always has a dress on and it messes up her hair. As for Junior, he´s always licking himself and it causes knots. I haven't cut their hair this summer because I wanted to grow it out so I only did little trims every now and then but now it seems like no matter how much I brush them they end up getting a knot. So I´m just going to cut it short.
I plan on getting more bearded dragons by the end of November, but not for sale. I am also getting them a new tank as well so I can separate them because they are getting to be more of a sub adult than a baby bearded dragon. I also changed them from sand to crushed walnut shells which I bought because I looked a lot like sand. The whole reason why I was so suborn to changed from sand is because I warned a substrate that looks like sand ans not one of those sand mats or anything I think those are kind of stupid and a waste of money they are also very time consuming to wash and maintain. I changed from sand because sand is really bad for them and can kill them but I only had them on sand for a short amount of time so it didn't do much harm or cause inaction which a lot of bearded dragons die from.
I've learned the hard way to pay attention to details and not to overlook it
My little guy Nemo passed away this morning I noticed about a month ago that he wasn't growing like everyone else but I thought to myself no biggie every bearded dragon grows at their own rate so I didn't think too much of it but I started to watch him more closely and a week later I realized he wasn't eating as much as he usually eats but I thought it was because the other beardies in the tank were hogging the food so I started taking the other beardies out for an hour and fed Nemo during that time and he started eating a little more then he just stopped two weeks later and for 2 days he wasn't eating so I had force fed him his food which I've had to do with him on several occasions but on the 3 day of force feeding him he looked extremely sick and couldn't hold on to me like he normally does which is when I got extremely worried I was rushing to take him to the vet when I realized he was probably too weak for them to really do anything to help him so I gave him a warm bath wrapped him up in his little blanket and put him back in his cage I figured if he wanted to live he´d fight for it and if he was alive in the morning then I'd take him to the vet but minutes later he had passed away just that morning he was acting fine but when I went to force feed him that night things took a turn for the worst I got Nemo from a place called underground reptiles which I wont be buying from them again A lot goes into training a dog weather its a puppy or an adult dog it takes time and patience to train a dog. You have to remember every dog is different. Me I trained all the dogs I've ever had on my own just by researching techies and steps. Me personally I loved watching the dog whisperer. Mostly because he always says dogs are my passion which I really loved about them. With Cesar the dog whisperer he keeps in mine that dogs are not human they are animals and you have to let them know you are the pack leader and the one in charge. Ever episode he has goes back to making sure your dog sees you as the pack leader. He lets us know that most of the back behaviors our dog does is because of us.
So you think your ready for a puppy? Well there's a lot that you have to think about when getting a new puppy before picking out a puppy you have to think about am i competed to this for the next 15 years of your life you have to think about size exerciser requirements grooming and experience. You have to think about food vet bills and their basic needs like a bed a crate their leash and bowls. Another thing is size. You have to do your research and know not only what your getting yourself into but also how big you dog will get. Grooming on the other hand can be really time consuming so that is a nothing thing you have to think about when picking your perfect puppy. longer coats usually mean more grooming and care. After taking all thought into consideration you can now go out looking for your perfect puppy. The best place to go is a animal shelter to get a recuse dog. When I was younger choosing my first dog i took only two things into consideration which I shouldn't have. All i wanted was a small great personality dog. Although I didn't take all the other things into consideration things turned out pretty well.
OHaving a bearded dragon is a really fun and exciting experience. they are kind of like dogs in the fact that they all have their own personalities which I love about them. They are friendly and interact with you. They love to cuddle and run around like crazy and after you get over the feeding them insects and being ok with that bearded dragons turn out to be a great pet to have. I personally feed started out feeding my dragons crickets then I added super warms to their diet. I eventually added black soldier fly larvae to the mix. I am currently starting to add Dubia Roaches to their diet now as well and holding back more on the crickets because of costs. Crickets die really quickly and easy so I changed to Dubai Roaches and have also started a small colony of my own. It is costly at first to start up because you need about $200 to start the colony but after that you'll be saving big bucks. There is a channel I use to look to on you-tube to help me get started with my colony named bedroom beardies that gives tons of detail as to how to start up a colony. One think this channel doesn't mention that you can do to help keep your colony clean is buy Cleaner Beetles also known as Buffalo Beetles
A lot of people think breeders make a lot of money off breeding but the truth is, if you are passionate and dedicated to breeding the money you make on selling your puppies goes to paying for the next litter and other stuff for the dogs. I mean there´s a lot of money that goes into breeding dogs. Most do not even think about all the shots, medication and surgeries that have to be done. People that think they can make tons of money off of breeding dogs are wrong. If at least A fourth of the money they make from the previous litter does not go into helping the nest litter they start to become more of a puppy mill. Not truly taking care of puppies and dogs at hand
First thing I knew I had to do was start my website. It's not fully done but it's on its way of being done. I´m making two different websites of course. One for the dogs and the other for the lizards. I have the puppy one almost done. I just don't have any puppies to post obviously because I haven't bred anyone yet but I will be doing that soon. Hopefully by next February I'll at least be breeding the lizards. As for the dogs I'll be breeding them by this fall and some time in the winter next year so they will be summer baby and they can go play outside and run around instead of being locked up in the house all day because it's too cold for them to be going outside. I mean if i was breeding bigger dogs i'd let them go outside in the winter but since I´m breeding 3-5 lb dogs they wont be going outside that much in the winter. I'm going to be that crazy dog lady walking like 20 dogs and puppies. Might even take the lizards outside too every once in awhile. Probably going to get a leash of them. Yes there are bearded dragon leashes. The reason why I say i want a leash is because they are already really hyper and like to jump off of people because they think they can fly for some odd reason. There is so much I plan to do with this business.
Dogs are amazing. They are like kids that just never grow up. But breaded dragons though.
One animal I truly love is my bearded dragons. They are like dogs. They have their own personality and know who is their owner. There are tons of different bearded dragons. From pastels to sand fires. In this blog I’m going to help you understand what I mean when I say things like, high colored beardie or citrus beardie. We’ll I guess I’ll start with Citrus. Mainly because my favorite breadie was a citrus named Bambi who died a few weeks after getting her for some unknown reason. I’m going to start off by saying all beardies don't look the same regardless if it’s the same type of beardie. They all vary from one breadie to the next but they still do have similar colors. OK back to our main topic. Every other week I´m going to post about a different type of breaded dragon. This week Ill be talking about my favorite bearded dragon the citrus. Citrus bearded dragons are mainly a dull or bright yellow with a touch of brown and maybe orange. They are one of my favorites because their colors are just so beautiful to me. RIP to Bambi. Your life was short lived but the time you did spend with me was amazing. You were so full of personality and wouldn't let any other baby bearded dragon lay on you because you were the boss, no matter how small you were. |
